Massage therapy as a healing tool can be used to treat :
- Shoulder Pain
- Muscular Strains
What is “Remedial Therapeutic Massage”?
For the whole body to be healthy the sum of its parts must be healthy.
The individual cells of the body are dependent on an abundant supply of bloody and lymph (a fluid which carries impurities and waste away from the tissue), because these fluids supply nutrients oxygen and carry wastes and toxins, so it is easy to understand why good circulation is so important to our health and why massage can be beneficial for the entire body due to its effects on circulation alone.
As massage is known to increase the circulation of blood and lymph flow, the direct mechanical effects of rhythmically applied manu al pressure and movement used in massage also dramatically stimulates nerve receptors which by reflex action cause blood vessels to dilate and hence facilitate the increase in blood flow.
The affects of massage:
- Causes changes in the blood
- The oxygen capacity can increase by 10% to 15% after a massage
Effect muscles throughout the body
Massage can help loosen contracted muscles and stimulate weak flaccid muscles, this muscle balancing can help posture and promote more efficient movement.
Massage provides a gentile stretching action to muscles and connective tissues which surround and support the parts of the body helping to keep tissue elastic.
Effects the nervous system
Massage helps balance the nervous system by soothing or stimulating it, depending on which affect is needed by the individual.
Enhances skin conditions
Massage directly improves the function of sebaceous (oil and sweat glands)
Which keep lubricated, clean, cooled, tough inflexible skin can become softer and more supple.
Effect internal organs
By indirectly or directly stimulating nerves that supply internal organs, blood vessels of these organs dilate and allow greater bloody supply to them.
